Chavez vs Manfredo Tickets

Middleweight world title holder Julio Cesar Chavez Jr (43-0-1, 30 KOs) will defence his WBC crown against Peter Manfredo Jr (37-6-0, 20 KOs) in a WBC middleweight title fight on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Reliant Arena in Houston, Texas.

The 25 year-old picked up the title earlier this month with a tight points victory over Sebastian Zbik and now faces former IBO champion Peter Manfredo in his first test as a champion.

The bout was originally touted to take place in Texas or Rhode Island on September 24th, but has now been pencilled in to take place on ‘JC Jr’s” home soil after some deliberation. The match-up will represent the unbeaten Chavez’s 46th professional bout as he sets off on his first title reign.

Manfredo, 30, will challenge for his third world title after unsuccessfully travelling to the UK in 2007 when campaigning at super-middleweight and losing in three rounds to Joe Calzaghe. He has since moved down to his more natural weight and did manage to hold the IBO version of the 160lb for eight months from May last year. The popular fighter was eventually stripped of the title in January this year for not facing the IBO’s mandatory challenger.
